What is a Grinder?

The term grinder can be traced back to the eastern region of the US. While Italian immigrants worked in the shipyard, setting and “grinding” rivets on huge ships. Their wives would bring lunch of freshly baked bread filled with meats and cheeses. The foreman would yell “Grinders” and all would sit and eat. Hence the word “Grinder” became known as the combination of meat, cheeses and vegetables served on one of a kind freshly made, oven baked bread. Here at Rudino’s, we continue the tradition by pilling on the meat, vegetables and cheeses. Every grinder is served on bread made from scratch on site daily.
